Philippines

Island hopping and Goodbye

The time runs too fast and the last days are coming.  At the 11th we will leave the Philippines and will fly to Istanbul. Here we will stay 6 more days and finally at the 18th i will be back in Hamburg. I dont know how long i will stay, but at least a couple of weeks of the summer. I m so excited to see all of u. Really, i  m actually pretty nervous to be back...

But first let me tell u more from our last time. From Camiguin Island we went back to Bohol Island. Here we took another boot and went to Cebu. Cebu is one of the main spots for tourists. Her are big shopping malls and a huge nightlife. We actually went shopping, but left the next morning to go to a beautiful island up north from Cebu (Cebu is boring, noisy and full of pollution). The island was nice, we booked a snorkeling trip around the island. Two days later we went to the next island. We stayed at a beautiful resort directly on the beach, blue water and perfect weather. But we had to go on to the next island -the number one destination for all the party tourists of the Philippines- Boracay. We enjoyed the snow white beach and few terrible cocktails, actually the worst cocktails i had so far in my life. Anyway. After Boracay we went to the next island to catch a ferry to Coron. We knew that it could be hard to get a ferry, but we had to try. Bad luck, we had to wait 3 days to go on. Finally after 3 days we went to Coron (6hours by boot, everybody was seasick). BUT it is one of the most beautiful destinations we have been on the Philippines...so we decided to spend the rest of hour time here and take a fly back to Manila to leave the Philippines at the 11th to go to Istanbul. Nice plan, but it wasnt working out. We couldnt book a flight or ferry back to Manila, so that we finally have to go back the way we came, to go from there all the way to Manila (will be around 20 hours of travelling by boot and bus, worst case=(, but we have to.....

Thats why tomorrow will be the last day in paradise and after that we have to sacrficing our time to travel back to Manila to catch our flight to Istanbul in time. Anyway we had the best time here on the Philippines....

Only 10 days left and i will be in Hamburg. See you all pretty soon.xx

Island feeling (Bohol, Camiguin)

Finally we went by boot to the first island destination. Bohol.  But the way to that island took us two days and a lot of fear. During the trip a storm arrived on the Philippines. So it was raining the whole time.  But we had to take a ferry from Donsol (Whale sharks) to the next island. (3 hour trip). On the ferry we realized that it was a totally stupid idea to ride a ferry on stormy weather. In the middle of the sea the waves began to be strong, in time with wind and rain. The boot started to turn from one to the other side. First a bit and then too strong, we flipped almost over. It was really close to that, so the people began to scream, were running to the life jackets. We couldnt do anything, just wait for the next harbor. We were lucky and i have to say, the first time on my trip i was lost and totally helpless. CREEPY EXPERIENCE.

Happily we survived and went on. After another day we arrived the Island Bohol, togehter with good weather. the storm was over! We lived there in a beautiful dschungle resort with small bungalows. 3 whole days, because of the holy week everything on the island wasnt going on. We had to rest, but luckily in a beautiful place. We saw the smallest animals on the island -the tarsier. (smaller than a fist). Although we went to see the chocalate hills. After Easter we went on (by boot) to the next island- Camiguin Island. This one is a tiny island, we could explore it in a half day with a motorbike. Beautiful island, tiny villages direct on the beach. Everywhere are waterfalls, vulcanos, mouintains, hot and cold springs and nice resorts on the beach. We enjoyed the beach and start to be teint- FINALLY.

Today we will keep going to the next island- Cebu.

Ah. And by the way we will skip Nepal and will hang out three more weeks on the Philippines. Its too beuatiful.

Luzon (Main Island Philippines)

From the north of Luzon to the very south. It took us 17 hours by bus. But afterwards we arrived at the Taal Volcano. We could ride on a horse to the top and saw the volcano lake, beautiful. After that half day trip we had to go by bus over night to the next city, AGAIN. Two night bus rides in a row are pretty tiring. But anyway at the next morning we arrived at Legazpi where you normally can climb up the Mt. Mayon (largest volcano on the Philippines and still active), but we were unlucky and it was raining cats and dogs, you couldn´t see anything =(so we had to go on to the next city called Donsol. And here we checked in a beautiful resort next to the beach, had a massage and enjoyed the sunset. And the next day we made a boot trip to see and swim with the whale sharks. It was unique. Whale sharks are beutiful animals. We swam so close to them.

Tomorrow we will leave the main island Luzon and finally will start the island trip....Only the weather is not to good, its still raining. Hopefully it will get better soon.

Rice Terraces (North of Philippines)

After Manila we went up to the north of Philippines where the huge rice terraces are. Its a long way by bus and sometimes full of fear. The streets are tight (only made for one car), sometimes in bad conditions (same like the bus) and its raining. But we survived and spent some time in Sagada, where we could see hanging coffins and an impressive cave. The next stop after Sagada was Banaue. Here you can see a unblivable amount of huge rice terraces and small villages. Its was a good experience, but although full of hikes and steepy steps up and down the hills and mountains=).Our legs were hurting.

Manila- Welcome Philippines

After a 3 hours flight from Bangkok to Manila- voilá we arrived on the Philippines. We have a visa for three weeks and will look for a mix of mountains, rice terasses, small islands and good food.

But first we spent 2 days in the capital Manila. It is with 13 million people a huge city, but beautiful. The Philippines have a big influence by spanish colonies. So it is so different to all the other countries in Asia we already visit. You can enjoy spanish food, the old city of Manila is magnificent and the people speak pretty good english. From the first second on i liked the Philippines and i cant wait to explore all that different parts of it=).
