Portugal- February 2018

This was my birthday trip for this year,  again with my beloved friend Christian. We meet in Porto and drove all the way down to Faro and back to Lisbon. The landscape is changing massively from north to south. Also we drove up the highest peak in Portugal called "Torre, were snow was still covering the mountain range. Beautiful. Sadly we did not have to much luck with the weather, so no sunbathing for us this year. Happy Birthday again my friend xx thanks for the trip!

Here we are again, traveling. First stop Portugal and quick flight to Madeira Island. Some people call it the European Hawaii and Island of flowers. I agree- it is gorgeous. Unbelivable mountains, breathtaking cliffs and the history of the unique Madeira wine. I just had to start here. I had 10 days in total and almost hiked everyday, I just couldn't risk to miss anything as every corner is a different kind of beauty. Of course I explored vineyards and tried lots of wine. The oldest Madeira I tried was from 1944. Thats 74 years of age-fabulous! Few more days and back it goes to Porto to celebrate my birthday.  

Quick stopover before catching the flight to Madeira. But I used the time well. I took a train from Porto and traveled up into the mountains of the Douro Valley- the region were the grapes for Port wine are growing. Of course the season is just starting and it is still quite cold, but it was already a great trip. After Madeira it goes back to explore the city of Porto.
